With so many options to get around Santorini we wanted to make sure we did our research before coming to a final decision. Picking ATVs to use for three days was perfect! After reading blogs, travel guides and talking to our guide we decided that ATVs would give us the most freedom for the best price. Because there were just three of us, we only needed two ATVs. At just 55 Euro for three days (oh the joys of traveling in the shoulder season!), we would be able to go anywhere we wanted and not spend a fortune. Not to […]
Greek Teachings
Another week come and gone. I can’t believe just one week ago I was sitting on my cave house patio in Oia. Where does the time go? Anyway, now it’s back to reality and the fast paced life that is the end of the school year. This week tucked between math prep for our state test coming up in two weeks, writing our Spain classroom book, poem in your pocket day, and the usual lessons, I managed to share some pictures and information from my trip to Greece. Students knew I was traveling to Greece for April vacation. We talked briefly before […]
Hiking Oia to Fira
Believe what you read was the moral of our hiking tale. We were staying in Oia and wanted to hike to Fira, but we read that it was a bit more difficult than hiking the opposite way. How hard could it be? Ummm, pretty hard. The day greeted us with gale force winds. White caps lapped around the caldera, a warning of what we were up against. Every other day the water had been calm, the sun gently greeting us as we sat on our patio, not on hiking day. I think the water had it easier than we did. […]
Sunset at Santorini
Santorini is famous for breathtaking sunsets. Specifically, Oia is the town that is known for the best vantage point for the sunset. Unbeknownst to us, when we booked our AirBnB cave house (which you should totally stay in if you go to Oia), we would be staying smack dab between the most photographed place to take pictures of Oia looking back on the town, and the lookout point for sunset. Boy did we luck out! Our first day on Santorini was quite full, and we were looking forward to relaxing for a bit in our very own cave house. We […]
Santorini Wish List
Most of my upcoming trip with my sister and friend will be spent on the island of Santorini. Known more for honeymooning than for groups of young 20 somethings, we will be soaking in the relaxed pace and quiet atmosphere for our girls trip. What am I looking forward to? Breathtaking views, delicious food, and even a donkey ride, check, check, check! We plan to take advantage of everything Santorini has to offer. Since we have more time in Santorini than in Athens we created a wish list of everything we hope to do while we are there. The Google Map […]
Packing Light for Greece
My trip to Greece is quickly approaching, just 12 days until departure day! As usual, I wanted to get a jump start on my packing so I will be stress free less stressed, so I took the weekend to lay clothes out and see how they would fit in my suitcase. After meeting my own challenge of packing in a carry-on size bag for a 10 day trip to Spain; I figured it should be a breeze to do the same for just 7 days in Greece. The big difference this time, other than warmer weather, a couple of fashionistas I […]
Preparing for Greece
Time to dust off my suitcase again, not that it has had much time to accumulate dust. In less than a month I will be on my way to Greece! After an overnight flight, transfer to a second flight in Germany, where my sister and I will meet up with a friend, we will be in Athens. We will spend a few days in Athens and then hop on another plane to take us to Santorini for the remainder of our trip. Honestly I can’t decide what I am most excited about as we plan out our time in Greece. Here is a […]
