Packing Light for Greece

My trip to Greece is quickly approaching, just 12 days until departure day! As usual, I wanted to get a jump start on my packing so I will be  stress free  less stressed, so I took the weekend to lay clothes out and see how they would fit in my suitcase. After meeting my own challenge of packing in a carry-on size bag for a 10 day trip to Spain; I figured it should be a breeze to do the same for just 7 days in Greece. The big difference this time, other than warmer weather, a couple of fashionistas I will be traveling with!

For this trip I will be traveling with my sister Nancy, and one of our friends from college, Lauren. Both Nancy and Lauren have way better fashion sense than me and are always mindful of what outfit would look best for different events. What does this mean for me? Well for starters, I will not be repeating outfits on this trip, simply a fashion no, no. I also had a little fashion fairy godmother (Nancy) to look over my shoulder and approve each piece of clothing before it was packed away safe and sound.

The results of this packing session: well thought out outfits, more clothes than I would have brought myself, BUT still small enough to fit in a carry-on size bag (thanks in big part to my packing cubes!).

Here’s what made the cut:

  • 4 Sun Dresses
  • 1 Pair of Jeans (travel day outfit)
  • 2 Pairs of Capris (Jeans & Black Pixi Pants)
  • 1 Pair Workout Capris
  • 1 Athletic Skirt
  • 1 Jean Jacket
  • 1 Black Sweater
  • 1 Gray Zip Sweatshirt (travel day outfit)
  • 10 Tops (Mix of shirts, t-shirts and tanks)
  • 3 Long Sleeve Shirts
  • 2 Bathing Suits (1 to toss if we go to hot springs)
  • 1 Cover Up Long Sleeve
  • 2 Work Out Tops
  • 1 Pair of Mesh Shorts
  • 2 Pairs of Sandals
  • 1 Pair of Sneakers
  • 1 Pair of Flats (travel day outfit)
  • Socks, Undies and Bras

Traveling Outfit

I am pretty proud of myself for getting everything into my carry-on size bag. I was a little skeptical when Nancy got involved, but I was pretty determined. My bag isn’t even bursting at the seams. Now I just have to avoid over thinking my list and adding things I think I “need”. I will also be gathering up all my toiletries and items for my backpack which will be my personal item for the flight.

Some in my family may have given me a hard time about packing light, but I will get the last laugh when I can carry my suitcase no problem down the cobble stone streets of Athens and Santorini.
